Former president and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump has been the target of two assassination attempts in the last two months.
One took place in the middle of a rally, while the most recent one took place while he was on the golf course. Despite the recent attempts on his life, Trump has announced his plans to attend a big-time SEC matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Donald Trump has attended SEC games in the past
Trump’s attendance at the Alabama-Georgia game on Sept. 28 will not be the first time he has made a notable appearance at an SEC game.

Trump was present for the classic 2019 matchup between the LSU Tigers and Alabama in an effort to campaign for the 2020 election. In 2023, Trump attended a rivalry game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers.
The Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide are on a collision path for a huge undefeated matchup in late September despite Georgia’s troubles with the Kentucky Wildcats in week three. Barring any unforeseen poll jumpers, Alabama and Georgia will hold their spots in the top five during their week-four bye weeks.
Alabama has an off week to prepare for Georgia after a commanding non-conference win over the Wisconsin Badgers. Georgia has an off week to regroup after a scary-close win over Kentucky.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart explained in an On3 article how difficult it is to win against any SEC opponent. That difficulty will only be magnified with the big-game status being enhanced by the presence of a former president.
“When you’re playing on the road in the SEC, people don’t respect that, and I’m not sure our guys listened to the message all week because this is a good football team,” Smart said. “You don’t judge SEC teams on one week. That’s a good football team. We did what we had to do, but we did not play real well at all.”
