The Miami Dolphins come into Week 4 as the hottest team in the NFL. With wins against the Patriots, Ravens and the Super Bowl favorite Bills, the Dolphins look to keep their undefeated season alive. The Cincinnati Bengals finally get their first win on the season with a week 3 win over the New York Jets. Both these teams have had surprising starts to the season in good ways and bad. Lets preview this Dolphins vs Bengals week 4 primetime matchup.
1.) Tua’s Health
Tua Tagovailoa has taken the league by storm in the first three weeks. Most notably the week 2 win over the Ravens where he threw for six touchdowns in a 21-point comeback win. Week 3 vs the Bills started well before he injured what first appeared to be his head but now are reporting to be his back.
Tua slammed his head on the ground hard and got up wobbling and appeared his day was done. He later came back out after halftime and led the Dolphins to a 21-19 win. The NFLPA is reviewing the Dolphins concussion protocols due to Tua seeming to be injured and concussed, but yet came back into the game. On Tuesday Tua said “everything” is affected by his back injury so it will be curious to see if he does suit up and play and how affective he will be.
2.) Can the Bengals Offensive Line Protect Joe Burrow
In 2021 the Bengals were third in sacks allowed with 51, coming into this offseason they knew what they needed to address. With a completely revamped offensive line with additions of La’el Collins, Alex Kappa, and Ted Karras, the Bengals thought they would improve but it has been anything but that.
They are tied for the league lead in sacks allowed with the Washington Commanders with 15 sacks. Burrow has been unable to get the ball to his deep threats in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. This week it will not be any easier. Dolphins will be bringing guys like Jordan Phillips and Melvin Ingram off the edge. This matchup will be the key point in how affective the Bengals offense can be in this game.
3.) Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle vs Ja’Marr Chase & Tee Higgins
Which dynamic wide receiver duo will provide more big plays? Throughout the first three weeks of the season Hill & Waddle are top three in receiving yards in the NFL. Chase has yet to have that big game this season, but it is only a matter of time before he explodes. Higgins has been steady and consistent in his production. Which defense can keep the receiving duos in check will be what decides this game.
4.) Prediction
A Dolphins letdown spot is hovering. I think this is the week for the sole fact of Tua’s health. Tua will not be close to 100% and I think that hinders his ability to get the ball to his deep threats. Cincinnati will have the home crowd behind them and Chase will finally have his explosion.
Prediction: Bengals 24, Dolphins 21
