‘His Speed Hasn’t Fallen’: NFC Exec Highlights Threat of Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill remains one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the NFL, even after his least productive season since becoming a starter in 2017. Ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver in ESPN’s 2025 rankings, Hill’s elite speed continues to demand the attention of opposing defenses, as noted by an NFC executive who emphasized that “his speed hasn’t fallen.”

Hill’s 2024 season saw a dip in production, finishing with just 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns across 17 games. Despite these numbers, his impact on the field goes beyond statistics. Defenses must account for his explosiveness on every play, often altering schemes to limit his big-play ability.

This defensive focus underscores his continued value to the Dolphins’ offense. NFL evaluators highlighted Hill’s ability to dictate defensive game plans, with his speed forcing coordinators to adapt.

Even if Hill has lost a slight edge in acceleration, he remains more explosive than most players in the league. His 14 touchdowns on deep passes since 2022 tie him with other top receivers, showcasing his ability to stretch the field and create scoring opportunities.

NFC Executive Drops Interesting Take on Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill

Just recently, an NFC executive highlighted the threat posed by Hill. This is detailed more in an analysis by Jeremy Fowler for ESPN.

Hill struggled mightily without Tua Tagovailoa in the lineup, appeared to quit on his team in Week 18 and has been saying all the right things since. He averaged 1,557 yards per season between 2020 and 2023 (at least 16 games played). That number fell to 959 yards in 17 games last season.

Yet, Hill fell just one spot in the rankings. The reason is simple: attention. He commands it from defenses. His mere presence changes the math on the field. Since joining Miami in 2022, Hill’s 14 receiving touchdowns on throws of 20-plus yards downfield is tied for the most in the league with Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown.

“He still impacts how you prepare for them so much due to his speed,” an NFC executive said. “He dictates so much. His speed hasn’t fallen off, despite the down year.”

Critics, including Randy Moss, have questioned Hill’s all-time standing among wide receivers, but few dispute his current influence in the game. His presence alone reshapes defensive strategies and creates space for teammates, a unique quality that keeps him among the NFL’s elite. Hill’s ranking reflects not just his individual skill but also his ability to elevate the Dolphins’ offensive potential.

As the Dolphins look to rebound from a disappointing 2024 season, Hill’s performance will be pivotal. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s health critical to the team’s success, Hill’s speed and playmaking ability will remain central to Miami’s offensive strategy and playoff aspirations.
