NFL Analysis Names Biggest Offseason Loser From AFC East

As the NFL offseason progresses, analysts have identified the Miami Dolphins as the biggest losers in the AFC East. Despite their recent history of competitive play, they face significant losses that have left them in a precarious position heading into the 2025 season.

Miami has seen several key players depart, including left tackle Terron Armstead, who announced his retirement, and safety Jevon Holland, who signed with another team. These departures, combined with the potential trade of cornerback Jalen Ramsey, have weakened an already vulnerable secondary.

Analysts argue that these moves could hinder Miami’s ability to compete with the Buffalo Bills, who have consistently dominated the division. In contrast, the Bills have focused on retaining their core players while also making strategic additions to bolster their defense.

With quarterback Josh Allen leading the charge, the Bills aim to solidify their position as the top team in the AFC East. Their offseason decisions reflect a commitment to building on their previous successes and addressing areas of need.

Miami’s offseason hasn’t yielded the necessary results for the team to compete next season. According to Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, they have now ended up as the biggest loser in the AFC East.

The Miami Dolphins have lost multiple key starters this offseason. Left tackle Terron Armstead retired. Safety Jevon Holland and defensive tackle Calais Campbell have signed elsewhere.

The Dolphins haven’t re-signed cornerback Kendall Fuller, which is a reasonable decision after he allowed a 97.7 passer rating in coverage last year. Still, the team needs someone to fill his role, and it didn’t draft a cornerback until the fifth round.

Lastly, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Miami is expected to trade or release Jalen Ramsey in May or June, which compounds an unsettled situation at cornerback.

Meanwhile, the New England Patriots have revamped their roster around rookie quarterback Drake Maye, signaling a shift in strategy. They have made noteworthy acquisitions that could enhance their competitiveness, making them a team to watch moving forward.

Overall, Miami’s failure to address critical gaps in their roster has left them trailing behind their division rivals. If they cannot quickly recover from these losses, they may find themselves struggling to keep pace in a rapidly evolving AFC East. As the season approaches, the pressure will be on Miami to turn things around.
