Head Coach Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins are certainly aware of the pressure they are under as they close out their remarkable season. After consistently being one of the best teams in the NFL throughout the season, Miami has had their own fair share of criticism. While a lot of coaches would recommend their players not to address the media, McDaniel certainly had to throw a piece of his own personal flair into it.
Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel Lets the Media Know how He Feels
The Head Coach in South Florida has been known for not following certain protocols but has put the media on notice ahead of a colossal Week 16 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.
“I instructed the players that anything other than concerning yourself with the next opponent, which for us is the Dallas Cowboys, any other narrative that has to do with good teams, or playoff seeds, or the next three games, all that stuff, I gave them the clearance to tell all members of the media, to, with all due respect, ‘Eff off.’
All joking aside, McDaniel knows that the team needs to be focused going into battle with the number two team in the NFC. Dallas has shown that it has an imposing offense under the command of Most Valuable Player award contender Dak Prescott but it also has a stifling defense with elite pass rusher Micah Parsons.
Miami has been an offensive juggernaut this season under the leadership of Mike McDaniel as star wide receiver Tyreek Hill locks in on the offensive player of the year award. While the offense is looking to set records, the defense has shown a tremendous rise in form over the past month after the return of elite cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
McDaniel is clearly taking the traditional strategy before big games of telling his players to (as the old expression goes) avoid giving the opposing team any ‘bulletin board material’. No one needs to provide any extra juice in a critical matchup like this and Miami will certainly be focused heading into this matchup.
McDaniel has done a tremendous job building up the Miami roster over the past few years as the offense exhibits more speed than any other team in the NFL. Miami has demonstrates that is has the most explosive offense as the team ranks first in the NFL in total yards by over ten yards per game. Miami has had a reputation this season of struggling against elite teams so this will be a major statement game prior to the playoffs. Look for Miami to come out swinging in this matchup to prove to the NFL that they are a major contender.
