In 2021, he rushed for 1404 yards and 18 TDs and averaged almost 6 yards per carry. He also totaled 468 yards receiving and added 4 more scores. He can run between the tackles or run around you, leaving you in his wake. His name is Deuce Vaughn.
Vaughn is a beloved figure in Manhattan, Kansas. He commands attention when he walks into a room. And, his football I.Q. is through the roof, which you would expect from a coach’s son.
Deuce Vaughn-Humble and Hard Working
Vaughn studies film and puts in the preparation necessary to make opposing defenders look foolish. He works hard on the little things so he can improve and accomplish big things on the football field.
And, he is both humble and hungry. Humble enough to redirect the spotlight and praise onto his teammates. Hungry enough to do whatever it takes to achieve greatness in college so he can get his shot at the NFL.
Vaughn is the returning leader in all-purpose yards in the Big 12 (1872 yards in 2021/144 yards per game). He was named preseason All-Big 12.
In 2021, he ranked #6 in the FBS and #2 in the conference in all-purpose yards. For his efforts, he was named to Consensus 1st Team AP All-American as an all-purpose player. Vaughn was the first consensus All-American at K-State since 2014.
Also, he was named the 2021 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year by Pro Football Focus.
He posted nine games of 100 rushing yards or more last season, including in each of his last 6 games (and scored 11 TDs). In six of those games, he carried the rock 20 or more times.
Vaughn has scored 31 career touchdowns and his career average yards per carry is 5.72. He reached 3000 all-purpose yards by the end of his sophomore season, the first player to accomplish that feat.
Against Kansas, he ran for 162 yards and 3 TDs in a 35–10 win. In the Texas Bowl vs LSU, he accounted for 4 TDs (3 rushing and 1 receiving) in a 42–20 win.
Vaughn Named to 2022 Watchlists
Vaughn is named to several player award watchlists for 2022: the Walter Camp Player of the Year, the Doak Walker Award, and the Maxwell Award.
The Wildcats open the 2022 season on September 3rd when they host South Dakota.
