The Detroit Lions had one of the franchise’s best seasons last year as the team made the NFC Championship Game. However, it appears that not everyone was playing at 100 percent and injuries played a massive factor into the season. With the “Receiver” show on Netflix being released, there were some details surrounding Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown that did not come out during the 2023 season.
What injury did Amon-Ra St. Brown suffer?
No one can question the toughness that Amon-Ra St. Brown has as he revealed on “Receiver” that he received an MRI after Week 4’s game against the Green Bay Packers and he completely tore his oblique off of the bone. He would go on and miss the next week but the injury would not be noticeable as he would play through the devastating injury and play an additional 15 games after sustaining the injury.
He would not slow down as in those 15 games (including playoffs), the Detroit Lions star would record 115 receptions for 1,458 yards and nine touchdowns. It is incredible just to think the pain tolerance it would take just to recover from the injury, let alone play through it.
St. Brown goes into details about covering up the injury during games and the All-Pro receiver was battling a lot of pain. During the episode, Detroit LIons coach provided some more details into why the team shut him down for Week 5.
“He may be able to play, and he may be able to function, but if this things tears even just a little bit more, you’re talking about (missing) six weeks, you’re talking eight weeks.”
However, he would go on and not miss a game following the week break.
What should we expect out of Amon-Ra St. Brown in 2024?

The Detroit Lions have gotten the experience and now Amon-Ra St. Brown is entering the 2024 season healthy after recovering from the oblique injury. After finishing in the top four in catches (119), receiving yards (1,515) and receiving touchdowns (10) last year, he should be able to do even more.
The team was able to sign quarterback Jared Goff to a long-term extension and this offense is looking to do even better than 2023. With Jameson Williams expected to be more of a factor as well as tight end Sam LaPorta establishing himself as one of the best at the position, Amon-Ra St. Brown can still wind up with 1,200 yards and have a great season.
