The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 last night on Sunday Night Football and finished the regular season 15-2. With a victory over Minnesota, Detroit clinched the NFC North Division, the first seed, a first-round BYE, and home-field advantage in the postseason. Since they clinched the first seed, Detroit will have a much-needed BYE this weekend and will host the lowest seed at Ford Field for the Divisional Round next week.
Detroit Lions’ rookie defensive starter suffered a scary injury last night
Lions’ starting rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold suffered a scary foot injury during the third quarter after tackling Aaron Jones, and Al-Quadin Muhammad stepped on his right foot. With the assistance of the medical staff and without putting any weight on his leg, Arnold went directly into the medical tent, where they later carted him to the locker room. After initially listing him as questionable, the Lions downgraded him to out.
Lions rookie starter reveals an encouraging injury update
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Terrion Arnold’s X-rays on his foot came back negative. During Sunday’s postgame locker room interview, Arnold told Birkett he’s playing in the Divisional Round. He also said that the Lions have one of the best trainers in the league, and he believes they can get him back and ready for the next round of the playoffs.
“I’m playing,” Arnold told Dave Birkett of the Free Press in the locker room after the game.
“I had my moment where I talked to God,” he said. “I just put it in his hands. And we got a bye week. We got the best trainers in the NFL and I feel comfortable and I feel like they can get me back. We are just going to put it in God’s hands.”
