Ahead of their Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Detroit Lions have promoted wide receivers Tim Patrick and Tom Kennedy from the practice squad to the active roster.
The Lions are adding Patrick and Kennedy to bolster their depth at wide receiver due to injury concerns. WR Jameson Williams was downgraded to questionable after an ankle injury limited his practice participation all week, and rookie WR Isiah Williams has been ruled out for the game against the Buccaneers.
Kennedy was elevated and played in the Lions’ Week 1 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, while Patrick will join the active roster for the first time this season. Patrick had a strong 2021 season with the Denver Broncos, catching 53 passes for 734 yards and five touchdowns before suffering consecutive season-ending injuries to his ACL and Achilles.
Detroit Lions to Face Buccaneers in Playoff Rematch
The Lions will host the Buccaneers on Sunday in a playoff rematch from last season. This will be the second consecutive game against a playoff opponent for the Lions, following their 26-20 overtime win against the Rams. The Buccaneers are coming off a dominant 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders.
The Buccaneers will be without three starters on Sunday: defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, safety Antoine Winfield Jr., and right tackle Luke Goedeke. Starting cornerback Zyon McCollum is listed as questionable after passing concussion protocol following a hit he sustained last week.
