On Monday night, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was set to face his former rival, the Seattle Seahawks. What he did not know was that he was going to put on a legendary performance. The Seahawks were undefeated going into Week 4. They were getting Kenneth Walker III back from injury, who, by the way, made an unbelievable play himself.
The athleticism of Kenneth Walker III is simply astonishing. Dude’s making moves you’d see from Spider-Man swinging through the city. #Seahawks pic.twitter.com/hcIo0enwFr

The Lions were 2-1 going into Week 4, with just a four-point loss to the Buccaneers on their record. With a potent rushing attack of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs carrying the burden early, Goff finished the night with pure perfection.
How Was the Detroit Lions Quarterback Perfect?
Plain and simple, Goff did not throw a single incompletion. It was not just check-downs, screen passes, and quick slants. The Detroit Lions signal caller averaged 16.2 yards per completion. Tim Patrick had two receptions for 52 yards, and Jameson Williams had two for 80 yards and a touchdown.

The Detroit Lions running game was, well, off and running early. David Montgomery rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter, while Jahmyr Gibbs scored once in the first and then again in the second quarter on the ground. By halftime, the Detroit Lions were up 21-7 on the Seahawks.
The Seahawks responded with some great halftime adjustments, scoring on a 10-play, 75-yard drive. The Detroit Lions responded with some trickery.

Goff was perfect as a passer up until this point and added a seven-yard touchdown reception. Goff made the Seahawks continually struggle to keep up with the Detroit Lions’ humming offense. Walker III rushed for a touchdown, and Goff threw a 70-yard touchdown to Williams. Walker III rushed for a second touchdown, and Goff found Amon-Ra St. Brown for an eight-yard score. Goff finished the night with an epic stat line. He was 18 for 18 as a passer with 292 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown. You cannot get much more perfect than that.
The Detroit Lions Offensive Efficiency
The NFL has changed offensive strategies, throwing the ball at alarming rates. The Detroit Lions are one of the more efficient offenses, methodically moving the ball, making big plays, and rarely turning the ball over. What makes the offense so efficient? The age-old tale of running the football well.
Detroit Lions Rushing Tandem
The Detroit Lions have a two-headed monster of a backfield with Gibbs and Montgomery. On Monday night, they combined for 26 carries, 118 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. The rushing attack grinds down defenses with Montgomery’s power style and Gibbs’s elusiveness, opening up the passing game. Defenses need to respect the running game, opening up shots downfield for Goff.
Detroit Lions Receiving Corps
Jameson Williams fits into the offense perfectly with his speed as the downfield threat. All five of Williams’s career touchdowns have been over 50 yards. St. Brown is the chain-moving, red zone target. He has consistent hands and creates excellent separation. Sam Laporta is the seam splitter down the middle of the field. His athleticism and strength are critical to the Detroit Lions offense. He also can create great separation and is a red zone threat for Goff.
Add the fact that the offensive line has only allowed seven sacks in the first four weeks, and this offense is complex to keep up with. The Detroit Lions have built this offense to perfection, and it will be hard for opposing teams to keep up with it. They have done it in the classic form, running the football efficiently first.
