The Detroit Lions came into the NFL draft with an opportunity to make a big splash. They owned picks 6 and 18 and already filled a lot of holes in free agency. This was an opportunity to solidify themselves as a contender in the NFC and the clear favorite in their division. Instead, they made two head-scratching picks in running back Jahmyr Gibbs and linebacker Jack Campbell.

Detriot started the night on a good note. They traded down and picked up some much-needed draft capital. They then proceeded to make some of the strangest picks. Gibbs is a good back but taking him number 12 overall is a reach. The team has DeAndre Swift on the roster and signed David Montgomery in the offseason. Adding a third back seems weird. Campbell is a good player but taking him at 18 felt like a huge reach especially considering that linebacker is not a premier position.

    Same Old Lions

It never ceases to amaze me how dumb teams continue to make dumb decisions. The Lions have been in mediocrity for the last 30 years. They have made one bad draft pick after another. After last year, the hope was that they have finally turned the corner. Now, they look to be the same old Lions. With that said, these picks could turn out to be impact players. However, the other players that were on the board at the time, like cornerback Christain Gonzalez, left a lot of people confused.

The Detroit Lions are going to have some very angry and confused fans. They made some head-scratching picks and now they have to deal with the fallout.
