There is little doubt that the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers will be in a fierce competition for the top spot in the NFC North in 2024. Considering the fact that both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are starting over at quarterback this season, it could be that way for the next few years as well.
The Lions made history in 2023 in many different ways, however, one player who had a big impact on that success got some troubling news today.
The Detroit Lions May Have Lost Starter For A Significant Amount Of Time

It is possible that the Detroit Lions will be without running back Jahmyr Gibbs for a considerable period of time after the breakout performer sustained a hamstring injury during practice.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Gibbs sustained the injury at his team’s practice on August 12, with his leg being evaluated by team doctors after he left early. Lions have already suffered a key injury on offense in their first preseason game, but Gibbs’ injury is unknown at this time.
Nathan Dougherty highlighted how much Gibbs means to this Lions offense:
“A lot of great receiving backs have done that,” Gibbs told ESPN. “Christian McCaffrey’s done that. [Alvin Kamara] has been close. Marshall Faulk has done it. I’d like to be in that category. It’s only a certain number that’s done it.”
Gibbs has been troubled with hamstring injuries, missing two games last season after suffering an injury to his hamstring. As Pro Football Talk noted, Gibbs was also limited during the offseason and early in training camp while dealing with an undisclosed injury.
The Lions will want to get Gibbs back sooner rather than later if they want to make history two years in a row.
