The Detroit Lions are 1-0 to start the 2024 NFL season. Detroit will no doubt be looking to add at the NFL trade deadline this season. The Lions did show some signs of improvement on defense against the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday night when they won 26-20 in overtime.

The Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL this season. This is a team that plans on contending for a while.
Bleacher Report Has the Detroit Lions Potentially Landing New York Jets Pass Rusher Haason Reddick In a Trade

Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox listed different several NFL trade candidates entering the second week of the NFL season. The top trade candidate on the market potentially is New York Jets outside linebacker Haason Reddick.
Reddick was acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, but the Jets did not sign him to a long-term deal. This is one of the reasons why he has not played for New York this season and he could be on the move once again.
Kristopher Knox thinks that the Arizona Cardinals and the Detroit Lions could be potential landing spots for the star pass rusher. Knox said:
“Pass-rusher Haason Reddick remains in our No. 1 spot because his contract standoff with the New York Jets continues. Reddick wants a new deal and has requested a trade, and he did not report ahead of Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
According to Schefter, Reddick has already accumulated $5 million in NFL-mandated fines for skipping the offseason and is now missing game checks worth nearly $800,000 each. It seems incredibly unlikely that Reddick will blink before the Jets do.
While Reddick would probably demand a new contract before agreeing to any specific trade, he should still have value on the market. The 29-year-old recorded double-digit sacks in each of the past four seasons and logged 27 sacks and 49 quarterback pressures over the past two.”
Kristopher Knox also added as to why the Detroit Lions would make sense for each other:
“The Lions could do the same, and they should be interested in adding a high-end complement opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Detroit’s defense looked solid against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but with their Super Bowl window just opening, the Lions shouldn’t be afraid to add more difference-makers if the opportunity to do so arises.”
Lions Need To Pay Aidan Hutchinson

The Detroit Lions will need to pay Aidan Hutchinson, but they don’t have to worry about that until at least the 2026 or 2027 season and beyond for that matter. He has a club option for 2026 with Detroit. It would be a good thing to pay Hasson Reddick now for the Lions.
They already locked up key players this offseason with Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell. General manager Brad Holmes would not be afraid to make a potential trade with the New York Jets and give Haason Reddick a long-term deal also.
