The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers figure to be fighting for the top spot in the NFC North in 2024. It could be that way for the next few years given the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings starting over at quarterback.
The Lions made some moves on Monday afternoon, and one included a former Packers player.

According to the Lions’ official Twitter (X) account, they’ve signed linebacker Ty Summers.
It was announced on Sunday that Summers had been released by the Jaguars
It was announced in May that the linebacker would join the team after spending 2023 with the Saints. Last season, Summers appeared on 301 special teams snaps and zero defensive snaps during the regular season. The veteran hasn’t played a defensive snap since 2021.
The 28-year-old was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. He spent the following season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and spent the last two seasons with the New Orleans Saints. In 1,521 combined snaps (1,316 on special teams), the 6-foot-1, 242-pound defender has recorded 42 solo tackles, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery.
“Inside linebacker possessing the physical qualities of an NFL player but lacking the necessary instincts and feel to make plays on his terms,” reads his NFL.com scouting profile. “While Summers won’t always play to his top speed, he could very well run a pre-draft sub 4.6 40, which could make him a late-round target for teams who view him as back-end depth and a potential core special teamer.”
