The Detroit Lions made one of the most intriguing moves in the recently concluded 2025 NFL draft when they sent two 2026 third-round picks and a 2025 third-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to move up by 32 notches on the board.
In return, the Lions got a 2026 sixth-round pick and two third-rounders in 2025, including the 70th overall that they used to choose former Arkansas Razorbacks wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa.
While the Lions’ decision to send future assets to the Jaguars prompted confusion, Detroit general manager Brad Holmes seemingly loves it. He also spoke highly of TeSlaa (h/t Richard Silva of The Detroit News).
“I do love all of them,” Holmes said in an interview Tuesday with The Costa and Jansen with Heather Show on 97.1 The Ticket, when asked which of his seven draft selections were his favorite. “I’ll give you this, though: The pick that was probably the most questioned, I would say, was Isaac TeSlaa. I can say that he was my favorite wide receiver in this draft. I’m not saying he was the best wide receiver in the draft. But favorite wide receiver in the draft? Yes.”
The Detroit Lions have a new downfield weapon in TeSlaa

In two seasons with the Razorbacks, TeSlaa only had 896 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 62 receptions, while mostly playing in the shadows of wideout Andrew Armstrong, who led Arkansas in receiving yards in 2023 and 2024. Interestingly enough, Armstrong was not drafted, though, he was later signed as a free agent by the Miami Dolphins.
TeSlaa joins the Lions, who had a high-octane attack in 2024, finishing first in the NFL with an average of 33.1 points per game and second with 266.3 passing yards per outing.
