The Detroit Lions are in one of the most unique draft positions in the entire league. After a solid season, the Lions find themselves pick at number 6 and 18 overall thanks to the Matthew Stafford trade. One of the players that may be there is Georgia defensive tackle, Jalen Carter. Many teams have been cautious about him after a subpar pro day and the legal trouble. However, after meeting with Carter, the Lions are feeling better about him.

Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes On Jalen Carter
“After his visit, I felt better about him,” Holmes said in a recent press conference. The visit apparently went well and squashed some worries that the team had about Carter. The Lions have defensive line needs as Aiden Hutchinson is the only real pass-rusher on the line. The other pieces are nice, but they need a wrecking ball in the middle. Carter might be the best non-quarterback in the draft and it would be an absolute steal if the Lions could get him.

High Expectations
The Lions go into next season with some high expectations. They are the betting favorites in the NFC North and in a weak NFC, have their sights set on making some noise in the conference. If the Lions were to add Carter to the mix, it would go a long way toward helping achieve that goal. The defense was the weak spot last season and Brad Holmes has done a great job trying to improve it in the offseason. The Lions find themselves in uncharted territory as the favorites in the North.
The NFL draft is full of interesting storylines and what the Lions do is one of them. The draft is a week away and is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event for every NFL fan.
