The Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL, and they are looking to finally reach the Super Bowl after blowing a massive lead to the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s NFC title game.
The Lions had to wait over eight months to get the bad taste of defeat out of their mouths. On Sunday, they play their first regular season game since their NFC title game loss, and they are going to do it against a familiar face.
Detroit will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night football; former Lion Matthew Stafford quarterbacks the Rams.
Stafford spent his first 12 seasons in Detroit before being traded to the Rams, which saw quarterback Jared Goff and a handful of picks head to the Motor City for the star quarterback.
The Rams were very lucky to get Stafford because they went on to win the Super Bowl right after they acquired him, and last season, they were trying to do it again but fell in Detroit to his former team in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
While the game was going on, Matthew’s wife Kelly was there with her four children, and Lions fans were booing them.
Kelly will not be in attendance this time when the two meet and she stated the reason for this on her podcast this week.
Kelly Stafford Will Not Attend The Detroit Lions Game On Sunday
A post from the New York Post states that Kelly Stafford said on her podcast The Moring After that she will be doing a live show from Detroit on Saturday, September 7th, but will be flying back home to Los Angeles right after it to watch her husband play the Detroit Lions and will not be attending the game.
It’s crazy to think that Detroit Lions fans would boo Matthew Stafford’s wife and four children when they had nothing to do with Stafford being traded.
The trade worked out well for both teams. The Rams got the veteran quarterback they needed to win a Super Bowl, and the Lions got a handful of draft picks and Jared Goff, which helped turn them into one of the best teams in the NFL.
It’s sad that Kelly has to miss her husband playing in their former town because fans don’t know how to behave.
