The Cleveland Browns fell victim to the loss column once again on Sunday, losing to the Las Vegas Raiders 20-16, but quarterback Deshaun Watson had a nice performance.
Ever since Watson was traded to Cleveland two years ago, he has yet to look like the player he once was, but Sunday’s game could show signs that he is on the right track of being the guy the Browns traded three first-round picks for.
Deshaun Watson Gets A Nice Grade From PFF
Even though the Browns didn’t win, it was encouraging to see Watson play well, and the offensive issues weren’t on him Sunday.
Watson was hitting his wide receivers and doing it behind the worst offensive line in the NFL, and he was getting no help from most of the players on the offense.
Wide receiver Amari Copper dropped a pass that hit him right in the hands and got intercepted. Watson was lying on his back most of the day since the offensive line couldn’t block anyone.
The offense is a major mess right now, and it doesn’t look like it will get any better, but Watson received an 86.0 grade from PFF, which was the highest grade given to any Browns player on Sunday.

Even if the offense continues to be underwhelming and Watson plays well, then Cleveland won’t have to look for a quarterback in next year’s draft and can draft offensive linemen and wide receivers to help their $230 million quarterback.
It’s not even October yet, and the Browns should start to turn the page to 2025 because there is no way this team will compete this season with the offensive line they are running out each week.
