As all Raider fans know Derek Carr was benched for the final two games of the regular season. Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels benched Derek Carr because he wanted to give Jarrett Stidham a chance to play. Derek Carr was benched after the Raiders lost 13-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Derek Carr and the Raiders experienced a disappointing season and Carr could be leaving Las Vegas during the offseason.

There is an obvious issue surrounding Derek Carr. Derek Carr has been an average quarterback who hasn’t lived up to his potential. Carr has had some good moments during his career, but comes up short when it matters most. Derek Carr has thrown some ugly interceptions, been inconsistent, and crumbled under the bright lights. The Raiders must figure out what they want to do with Carr after missing the playoffs.

Derek Carr had a season to forget. Carr passed for 3,522 yards, threw 24 interceptions, and 14 interceptions. Carr’s quarterback rating was 55.5, one of the lowest in his career. Carr also completed 60 percent of his passes, which was his second-lowest completion percentage as a starting quarterback. Carr regressed after having a breakout 2021 season. Carr had to learn Josh McDaniel’s playbook, connect with new skill players, and play faster.

Derek Carr was a part of an offense that ranked 12th in the NFL. The Raiders recorded 352.5 yards per game and scored 23.1 points per game. The offense was inconsistent and Carr’s play faded during the second half of games. Raider fans believed Derek Carr  and Davante Adams would take them to playoffs. However Carr and Adams were out of sync during games.  The duo could have been better even though Adams finished the season with over 1,000 receiving yards.

    Derek Carr’s Future

Derek Carr might be leaving the Raiders this offseason. If Carr leaves it wouldn’t be surprising. Carr has given his all to the Raiders and created long-lasting memories. I believe it’s time for Carr to move on and find a new team. Carr hasn’t experienced a lot of success with the Raiders and deserves to go to a different team. Carr might find success on a hungry team like the Jets. It isn’t easy being a quarterback and Carr has experienced trials and tribulations. If Carr does leave Raider nation should be thankful for what Carr has given them.
