Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase appeared on The Pivot podcast, and he had some choice words to say about the Cleveland Browns defensive backs. So, Denzel Ward responded.
When he was asked who the best cornerbacks in the league were, he was quick to say Denzel Ward, but he also threw some shade at the Browns.
“It’s game-time when we see them. It’s just on sight, that’s it. Not just because Cleveland talk the most s–t. Denzel Ward did his thing. Same for Greg Newsome. I don’t think he elite (Newsome), but they just talk crazy.”
Even though he does take the matchups against the Browns very seriously, it does seem like he has a lot of respect for both Newsome and Ward.
Once Ward saw what Chase had said, he responded on his Instagram story with a “taking notes” emoji.
He also had a caption on there that says “On-site! Let’s get to it!”
Along with the captions he had, he also put the clip of him intercepting Joe Burrow for a 100-yard pick-six last year.

In that game, the Browns absolutely destroyed the Bengals by a score of 41-16. Even though the Browns played better than the Bengals in that game, the Bengals played a lot better the rest of the season with them making a run to the Super Bowl against the Rams.
Both Denzel Ward and Ja’Marr Chase signed contract extensions this off-season, with Ward’s being five years long and Chase’s being four years long. So with these contract extensions, we should be excited about seeing these two guys face off against each other for years to come.
The Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals are going to meet up for the first time on October 31st in week eight, and it could be interesting after this exchange.
