Over the past few years, the Browns’ defense has improved a lot. One position that has improved greatly is their cornerback positions with Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II. Ward has established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and Greg Newsome II is a good and young cornerback.

This offseason, Ward got himself a contract that made him the highest-paid corner in the NFL. And, rightfully so.

This past season, Ward had three interceptions, 43 tackles, 103 yards, and one touchdown when he got a 100-yard pick-six.

Not only is he one of the best in the league, but he’s also incredibly young at only 25 years. With his age and his great skills, the Browns have themselves a great cornerback for the future.

Newsome had a solid rookie year. In his rookie campaign, he put together nine passes defended and 37 tackles.

Many believe Newsome will have more opportunities this year with offenses most likely decided to throw away from Denzel Ward.  This can give him more chances at passes defended, interceptions, tackles, and forced fumbles.

There are even some who think he has Pro Bowl potential for the 2022 season, including Nick Shook of NFL.com

“Newsome looks like a wise choice for general manager Andrew Berry in the first round of the 2021 draft, and although he’ll have plenty of quality competition for a spot (starting with his teammate), Newsome has arguably the best chance of any current Browns player to make his first Pro Bowl.”

Ward and Newsome have the potential to be a great duo for the Browns. Both of these guys are still young and they can only improve and get better.
