The Denver Broncos have had a very up and down season so far. Starting the year off terribly they managed to turn things around a look like a team that may sneak their way into the playoffs. They were on quite a hot streak and now it all seems to be crumbling in front of their faces, as we saw head coach Sean Payton absolutely lose it at quarterback Russell Wilson towards the end of the game.
This was the first time in a while that a head coach absolutely lost his marbles at a veteran quarterback like Wilson, and it may signify the end of the season for the Broncos. This was a huge game for the Broncos as they have been trying to make a playoff push, and following the loss to the Lions there chances are slim to none. Overall, the Broncos season has been a complete disaster as it was looking like it was going to be in the beginning of the season, and they have a lot to build on for next year. But coach Payton wasn’t thinking about next year.
Coach Payton did not get talk in more depth about what occurred on the sideline after the game. In a recent Denver Post Article, Payton was quoted after the game saying:
“Nothing more to share.” “It’s certainly in-game intensity, heat of the moment, all those things, but nothing more to add.”
That was definitely in game intensity to say the least, and especially from a veteran Super Bowl winning coach. For Payton to lose his temper like that, there must have been something else to the story. Payton should know that the media would be all over it, and it would have been smarter to share his frustrations with Wilson after the game behind closed doors. Sometimes the heat of the moment gets to us, and sometimes it even gets the best of the top talent in the NFL.
Denver Broncos Say Goodbye To The Playoffs
The Denver Broncos can now say goodbye to any playoff hopes they may have had, baring a crazy miracle. When we look at their season as a whole there are many things to be optimistic about and many things that are quite disappointing. Among them, is this new controversy about the relationship between Wilson and coach Payton.
When a team isn’t preforming to their capabilities, frustration starts to bubble and outbursts like this are common. However, these are the top two people for the organizations success, not just this year but for the years to come as well. Many fans and analysts voiced their views on X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their views on the matter. Specifically not understanding how Russ was at fault and why Payton went after him so hard.

Broncos Country is definitely riding with this. Payton and Russ will have to continue to work together if they want to see better success in the future. Both of them are not used to going on vacation early and I’m sure they don’t want to get used to it. Hopefully they will look back on this year at the end of the season and find many ways to improve.
