Former Denver Broncos star tight end Shannon Sharpe has made a second career bringing his hot takes — and often discussing the intersection of gossip and sports — on several national media outlets.
But on Wednesday, Sharpe became the focus of tabloids and sports media websites throughout the country after a post from his instagram account appeared to capture himself having , only to later claim his account was hacked.
“Beware my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning, my team and I are working vigorously to figure this out,” he posted and deleted on his Instagram Stories Wednesday.
While the former Denver Broncos star was not on camera, a woman can be heard moaning and repeatedly saying, “It’s yours, Shannon” while the camera focuses on a wooden floor or bedpost. Smacking sounds can also be heard in the clip, and many claim the man sounds eerily similar to Sharpe for it not to be him.
In one video, a phone is placed face-down on a desk or table while a woman is heard panting in the background. While the camera looks at the table, we can hear people engaging in sexual activity nearby.
Social media users immediately believed Sharpe was absolutely the man heard in the post and called him out for lying about it.
It’s impossible to tell who’s involved in the video, but some voiced skepticism that Sharpe’s account was actually hacked. “Saying he was hacked is ridiculous,” @JayLeesCorner wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “That man was f—ing and his phone went live. It’s not a big deal. But now we all know that when Shannon climax [sic] he growls. So there’s that…But it’s just sex, it’s not a crime.”

After immediately taking to social media with a post stating he got hacked, Sharpe joined his co-host Chad Ochocinco on Wednesday night on their Night Cap podcast and admitted it was in fact him in the viral sexual post.
“The entire world could hear,” Sharpe admitted. “I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons. I always try to be professional when I’m behind closed doors try to remain closed doors. I’m very disappointed in myself, not for the act, I think there are millions and billions of consenting age people who engage activities, but to have your most intimate detail to be heard, I’m disappointed.”

The former Denver Broncos star then spoke about apologizing to family members and those close to him before revealing how the accidental embarrassing post happened. He emphasized it wasn’t a staged event.
“This was not staged, I came in, I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity, I’ve never turned IG live on, so I don’t know how it works.”
While embarrassing, it’s not a crime for a grown adult to have sex so it will be interesting if his current employer, ESPN, takes any action now that Sharpe has admitted it was in fact him.
The worst part about this whole ordeal was him lying initially saying he was hacked instead of just admitting it was an accident right when it began to go viral.
The former Denver Broncos standout tight end has put together a great career in media since his playing days came to an end and it would be a shame if this incident has any negative effect on his success.
