Even though rookie quarterback Bo Nix has garnered rave reviews during the preseason, the Denver Broncos still aren’t predicted to go far in their 2024 NFL campaign. In the latest analysis, though, the team is projected to hit some speed bumps along the way.
The Denver Broncos are facing a challenging 2024 season, particularly concerning their defense, which has been projected by ESPN to allow a staggering 423 points, making it the second highest in the league, just behind the Arizona Cardinals.

Under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, the Broncos’ defense allowed 413 points in 2023, a figure that was notably inflated by a disastrous 70-20 defeat to the Miami Dolphins. The previous season saw them rank 27th in scoring defense, giving up 28th most passing touchdowns and 17th most rushing scores.
Despite these grim predictions, there have been some positive signs during the preseason. The addition of veteran players like Malcolm Roach and John Franklin-Myers, combined with rookie pass-rusher Jonah Elliss, has led to noticeable improvements.
The Broncos managed to shut out the Green Bay Packers and limited the Arizona Cardinals to just 12 points in preseason games, though these performances are not necessarily indicative of regular-season success.
Denver Broncos Projected to Struggle in Latest 2024 NFL Analysis

Last season, the Broncos finished with an 8-9 record in the AFC West division. According to an NFL analysis by Cynthia Frelund for the league’s official website, Denver is projected to get 6.4 wins.

Rookie Bo Nix won the Bronco’s QB competition in camp and projects to throw for at least 3,015 yards — just over 177 yards per game — in 59 percent of my season simulations.
Also, the Denver defense ranked 30th against the run last year, but the unit forecasts to rebound to around average (16th) in this area in 2024.
The real test for Denver has started in their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The team’s ability to improve on last season’s performance and meet expectations will rely heavily on how well they can execute their game plan under pressure.

The Broncos hope that with a renewed focus and strategic changes, they can turn the tide and become a more formidable defensive unit. In any case, fans must keep an eye out for Denver to see if they can exceed expectations or struggle heavily during the season.
