After news broke out to whom the starting QB went to, Stidham expressed his disappointment to lose the starting job to Nix during the preseason. The quarterback, who was also competing with Zach Wilson, expressed confidence that he is capable of being an NFL starting quarterback despite the setback.

Stidham had been viewed as the potential successor to NFL GOAT Tom Brady with the New England Patriots after Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. However, Stidham never claimed the starting role, losing out first to Cam Newton. He later spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders before joining the Broncos last year.
In 2023, Stidham started two games for the Broncos when Russell Wilson was injured, going 1-1 and throwing for 496 yards with 2 touchdowns. He believed his performance during that limited stint, as well as his work in practices, OTAs, and training camp, showed the coaching staff what he is capable of.

Once Stidham made his thoughts known about Nix getting the starting QB job from the Broncos, fans took to social media to express their reactions. This can be seen in a post shared by Ian Rapoport on his official X account.
“I know I’m a starting quarterback in this league. I have no doubts about that.”
“Maybe, but not for the Broncos,” Jed Whelchel said.
“Broncos have two choices…..both mediocre,” floridanow1 tweeted.
“Lord, I just need Jarrett’s confidence please,” Takky shared.

“Dude waited until he was 28, thrown around in different teams through his career to state this? I get being competitive but stand by your teammate in Bo,” AWinnerIsYou posted.
“I checked all the teams starting QB’s and didn’t see him tho,” Beef Swellington reacted.
“Did he go to a wedding instead of camp again this year?” Joe Michigan asked.
“In fact, he was not a starting QB in this league,” Tim Bracken expressed.
Despite losing the starting job to the rookie, Stidham is confident he will still make the Broncos’ final 53-man roster and will be ready if called upon. He remains self-assured in his abilities and believes he is capable of being a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL.

Although he’ll be starting the new season as a backup, Stidham is determined to support the team and contribute whenever called upon. By then, everyone will see if Nix can retain the starting QB job or somehow, it’ll pass on to the former New England Patriots star.
