The Denver Broncos’ decision to make rookie Bo Nix their starting quarterback has been drawing a lot of reactions lately. This led former NFL star Robert Griffin III to double down on his take about him and Sean Payton after the announcement was made official.
The Broncos have named Nix as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, after a competitive training camp battle. Payton, known for his aversion to football entitlement, made the announcement quietly, informing the three quarterbacks – Nix, Jarrett Stidham, and Zach Wilson – individually before practice.
Payton had identified Nix as a top quarterback prospect in the draft due to his maturity, composure, accuracy, and ability to move the ball efficiently without taking sacks. The 24-year-old Nix, who started 61 college games at Auburn and Oregon, has impressed Broncos players and coaches with his decision-making and very seasoned approach.
While Payton did not shield Nix from preseason competition, the former first-round pick has performed well, leading the Broncos to scores on six of the seven possessions he has played. Payton stressed that everything in the NFL must be earned, and Nix has demonstrated his readiness for the starting role.
Former NFL Star Robert Griffin III On His Take About Sean Payton and Bo Nix After Denver Broncos’ Decision
Griffin has been an advocate of Nix and Payton for a couple of months now. In a tweet he posted on his official X account, the sports analyst doubled down on his take about the two again.
Been said that Bo Nix and Sean Payton were a perfect fit before it was popular to say it. 🤷🏾♂️ https://t.co/HUBEDFpAS2

The Broncos’ quarterback carousel since Peyton Manning’s retirement has been a source of frustration for the fanbase, and Nix’s ascension to the starting job brings a sense of cautious optimism. Payton, who has not started a rookie quarterback as a head coach, and Nix himself will need to navigate the challenges that come with this new chapter for the franchise.
It remains to be seen how Nix will perform once the NFL comes back again. In any case, Broncos fans will be eager to see how the rookie quarterback will do in the field.
