DeMeco Ryans, head coach of the Houston Texans, recently addressed the rumors that running back Joe Mixon may not play in the upcoming season because of an injury. Reports have been going around that Mixon injured his foot in the offseason and is currently on the Non-Football Injury list, which makes him unavailable to play in the upcoming season.

In his conversation with reporters, Ryans remarked that Mixon is currently still training with the team and that he will definitely be playing in the 2025 NFL season. In addition to this, Ryans also threw some shade to reporters who are just eager to churn out news and don’t have any particular regard for his players.

“Joe is still training in the background… Whenever it’s time for Joe to be back, he’ll be back. A lot of people want to report things about guys with injuries, but my thing is, are you really concerned about our guys, or just trying to get something out there?” DeMeco Ryans spoke to reporters about Joe Mixon’s injury.

As per reports, Joe Mixon’s foot injury might mostly make him absent in the first week of the upcoming regular season. The running back’s injury will definitely be reevaluated sometime before the 2025 NFL year can kick off. Meanwhile, DeMeco Ryans’ Houston Texans will be gearing up for their upcoming season, which is due to start with a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.

DeMeco Ryans’ Birthday Celebrated By Fans At Training Camp

Meanwhile, DeMeco Ryans had a very happy 41st birthday at the training camp as Houston Texans fans joined in the fun to wish the head coach and celebrate his big day. Ryans was also presented with a funfetti-covered birthday candle with a lone candle by the team’s mascot, which the head coach happily blew.

DeMeco Ryans has been coaching the Houston Texans since the 2023 NFL season as his very first gig as head coach. However, Ryans has failed to win even one championship with the team. Still, Ryans and the Houston Texans are eager to win the Super Bowl this year and have been making crucial offseason moves for the same.

The Houston Texans did not get very far in the previous NFL season and only managed to make it a far as the divisional round to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs. This time around, the team will be hoping to do better with Ryans at the lead of the coaching.
