The Colorado Buffaloes didn’t get off to a hot start in Lincoln. Nebraska stormed out to a 28-0 lead at halftime. Nebraska wouldn’t score again, but their defense made enough stops to defeat the Buffaloes 28-10 and go to 2-0.
Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders’ program fell to 1-1. The Buffaloes have yet to defeat an FCS school since last October, as their five-point win last week came against North Dakota State, an FBS school.
Deion Sanders: The second half was better
Following the Buffaloes’ loss on Saturday night, Sanders said he wasn’t happy with the loss to Nebraska, but said he liked the way the team played in the second half.
“Overall, certainly not happy with the outcome, but positive things, the way we competed in the second half, we had no give up, no quit in us,” Sanders said, per video by Jake Shapiro with Denver Sports 104.3.
Sanders said the offensive line needed to play better. Nebraska recorded six sacks on the night.
Sanders credited the defense with playing better in the second half. Still, the Buffaloes couldn’t record one sack against the Nebraska offense in either half. Colorado outscored Nebraska 10-0 in the second half.
Sanders is “excited” with the team’s fight
Sanders said he was “excited” with the way the team came out after halftime.
“I’m just excited,” Sanders said. “You’ve got to understand when you’re in a situation like this you got to find something to hold on to that you can encourage your team, And I’m truly excited about the second half of football that we played.”
The Colorado Buffaloes have serious issues on their roster
Colorado is facing serious problems with their roster for the rest of the season. The Buffaloes’ offensive and defensive lines are not good. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders doesn’t look like a first-round pick. He threw a pick-6 in the first quarter.
The only solid player the Buffaloes have is WR/DB Travis Hunter and maybe safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.
Colorado will travel to play Colorado State next week. That will be the Buffaloes’ final non-conference game before Big 12 play starts.
Will the excitement continue or stop before October this year?
