Deion Sanders has taken Colorado to new heights in his second year as the head coach. With two weeks to go in the season, they are the favorites to win the Big 12 and earn a spot in the college football playoffs.
The Buffaloes will look much different next season because two-star players, wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, are heading to the NFL.
There has been much speculation that Sanders could become the head coach of whatever team is in a position to draft Sheduer and pair the two up. Teams to watch were the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.
Many obstacles would’ve had to be overcome for both Sanders to land in the same spot in the NFL, but Colorado got good news on Thursday, which could make Deion the Buffaloes’ head coach for a while.
Colorado Lands A Star Player
One of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 class, Julian Lewis, committed to Colorado Thursday afternoon, and that’s a good sign that Sanders will be staying in the Rocky Mountain State.
Lewis wouldn’t have committed to Colorado if it hadn’t been for Deion, just like most players who have decided to play there in the last two years.
Sanders seems like a coach who wants to build the Buffaloes program over the next few years and then leave for a better college job.
Right now, there doesn’t look to be a big-time college football opening this winter with Florida keeping Billy Napier, so maybe Sanders will go back to Colorado next year, let Lewis be his quarterback, and then try again in the 2025-2026 offseason for another job.
