The Colorado Buffaloes are preparing for the third season in the Deion Sanders era and it almost did not happen at all. On Monday afternoon, we had a Deion Sanders health update as he held a press conference ahead of the preseason for the Colorado Buffaloes’ 2025 season regarding his health. Let’s take a look at what the most recent Deion Sanders health update is and what it means going forward.
Deion Sanders Health Update Ahead of 2025 Season

During the press conference, we were given a significant Deion Sanders health update as it was revealed that the Pro Football Hall of Famer was diagnosed with a bladder tumor. His bladder was removed and replaced with an artificial bladder, and he was “cured from the cancer”.
Sanders revealed this to the team on Sunday and did not disclose the information publicly to anyone. However, he mentioned how he is back 100% to the team and plans to coach for the 2025 season.
There was some major concerns about Sanders’ health heading into the 2025 college football season and he even joked how to not be alarmed if there is a porter potty on the sidelines for practices and games. Dr. Janet Kukreja and Lauren Askevold were also there for the press conference and revealed that Coach Prime will not be limited in his day-to-day function as coach outside of physical limitations from the cancer and surgery.
People were fearing the worst as on Sunday, it was revealed that Deion Sanders had created a will and that led to some speculation about his health issue. It was reported that due to the Deion Sanders health update, he needed to miss preseason events that were scheduled.
Congratulations to Deion Sanders for beating cancer and it will be interesting to see if he is able to withstand the grueling nature of a full college football season.
