The Wisconsin Badgers recently extended a scholarship offer to one key prospect in the 2026 recruiting class who moved.
Camren Hamiel, a three-star cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class, recently picked up a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin Badgers. Hamiel is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, but transferred to Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona halfway through his sophomore year. Currently, the offers for Hamiel are split in half, with half offering a chance to return to the to the midwest, and the other half allowing for the recruit to stay out west.
Hamiel is a dynamic defensive back, standing in at 6-feet-1-inch, roughly 175-pounds with both a burst of speed and amazing hops. The defensive back is also a track and field sprinter and jumper, participating in the high jump, long jump, 200 meter, and 400 meter events. Hamiel was also a 100 meter sprinter his sophomore year, but it is unclear if the recruit still sprints the 100 now.

Following the reception of a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin Badgers staff, Hamiel was asked if he envisions himself at Wisconsin. The defensive back responded:
“Definitely a school I can see myself playing at. I take all the opportunities as places I could end up because I look at every single one as a huge blessing, whether it is Bowling Green or Wisconsin.” – Defensive back Camren Hamiel on whether or not Wisconsin is a landing spot
The defensive back also holds scholarship offers from Arizona, Bowling Green, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, and UNLV.
Could the Wisconsin Badgers Staff Land Camren Hamiel in the Near Future?
Following the offer, the Wisconsin Badgers are likely going to continue to try and build a relationship with the talented defensive back.
Currently, Hamiel has been in contact with safeties coach Alex Grinch and recruiting assistant Izayah Green-May. With the length that Hamiel has as a defensive back combined with his excellent field vision, the Wisconsin Badgers could consider primarily using the recruit as a safety.
Hamiel already considers himself a fit for the program, as he does with all of his scholarship offers. However, the recruit still has certain things he is looking for out of the program he eventually decides to commit to.
When asked about what Hamiel feels he needs from a program, the defensive back stated, “A good winning history, and most importantly a family environment.” Hamiel, like many other recruits, wants to feel like the coaches want him there and truly care about how he is doing on or off of the field. That kind of environment is exactly what the Wisconsin Badgers staff has worked to build, and the staff would love for Hamiel to eventually become part of it.
