San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel might not want to check his X account for a while. The star player dropped a pass in the third quarter that could have resulted in a touchdown.
The comment came a few days after Samuel lashed out at the 49ers for not getting him enough targets in the team’s 38-13 thrashing of the Chicago Bears in Week 14.
“Not struggling at all just not getting the ball,” Samuel initially posted on X after the team’s win over Chicago before deleting. Samuel caught two passes for 22 yards in the 49ers’ win over the Bears on Sunday at Levi’s stadium.
The San Francisco 49ers gave into a complainer
This week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Brock Purdy expressed their understanding of Samuel’s frustrations. San Francisco arguably overcorrected to Samuel’s comments, as Purdy would target him seven times on Thursday night. The 28-year-old receiver would catch just three of the seven targets for a total of 16 yards.
One play was critical in the 49ers’ 12-6 loss to the Rams.
Deebo Samuel had a bad drop
On third-down and 10, Samuel dropped a pass that hit him in the chest. Samuel had a chance to score a touchdown on the play. Instead, the 49ers had to settle for a field goal.

Fans on social media were not impressed by Samuel’s performance on Thursday night.
“The long snapper & kicker should go out there & do him like he did them,” wrote a fan.
“Forcing him the ball hurt that team tonight,” suggested a poster.
“Deebo should stick to picking on the kicker and holder. Don’t ask for the ball,” posted another.
“Mans is cheeks and holds everyone accountable apart from himself,” wrote a fan.
“This play ended the game, the 49ers season, and deebos career,” argued another.
“Kyle capitulating to Deebo’s ego was the death blow,” posted a fan.
The 49ers are now 6-8 after the loss to the Rams. While they’re not officially eliminated from the playoffs, their odds are pretty much over after the loss Thursday night.
