Davante Adams almost signed with the San Francisco 49ers before getting a deal with the Los Angeles Rams according to his tell-all interview with Michael Silver from The Athletic. Adams remarked how his agent was in talks with the 49ers after the wide receiver was let go by the New York Jets.
However, the deal proposed by the San Francisco 49ers was not so great, and in fact, let Adams feeling disrespected. The Los Angeles Rams then came through with a much better offer, and Adams could not be happier about joining a success-oriented team such as this.
“I was entertaining the Niners, but they were like, ‘We’re paying wholesale. We ain’t paying retail.’ I didn’t talk to them, but that’s what my agent told me — like five times, that quote. And I was like, ‘OK, well, I’m not a wholesale-type dude.’” Davante Adams said about the San Francisco 49ers in his interview with The Athletic.
Davante Adams has been playing in the NFL since 2014 after the Green Bay Packers selected him as the 53rd pick in the second round of the draft. Since then, Adams has played for the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets and now the Los Angeles Rams in the upcoming season.
In the 2024 NFL season, 32-year-old Davante Adams managed a total of 85 receptions for 1,063 yards, scoring eight touchdowns for the team. However, Adams definitely has plenty more to give as per his stats for previous teams like the Raiders. In the 2023 season, Adams managed 103 receptions and, before that, grabbed 123 receptions for the Green Bay Packers.

Davante Adams Spills Tea On Aaron Rodgers’ Contract With Jets
In the same interview, Davante Adams also spoke out about Aaron Rodgers’ previous team, the New York Jets. Last month, the Jets let go of quarterback Rodgers after a subpar season. However, as per Adams’ interview, the manner in which they conveyed the message to Rodgers was disrespectful.

Rodgers was apparently told to fly down to the Jets headquarters, and in a 20-minute conversation, was released from the team. Rodgers, who was supposed to play with Adams in a round of golf, remarked to the wide receiver that he felt disrespected that he was expected to take a flight on his own dime and hear the devastating news that he is being let go.

After Adams’ interview in which he spoke about this very topic, an insider from the New York Jets admitted that there was much more to the news and that the quarterback was not exactly treated the way he claims to be.
