Darius Slay re-signing with the Eagles was a huge win for the NFC powerhouse. They lost a lot of their best players in free agency, especially on the defensive side of the ball. In an interview this past weekend, Slay revealed that he almost signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

Darius Slay Was Almost A Baltimore Raven
The Ravens desperately need secondary help so when news came of Slay looking for a new team, the Ravens were the first to call. Apparently, the Ravens gave him everything he wanted but he gave the Eagles a chance to match. They did and the rest is history.
“I was almost, this close, a Baltimore Raven,” said Slay. “I was this close. This close. But I wanted to be an Eagle, I stayed an Eagle, because I know me and Howie were going to figure something out. But the Baltimore Ravens were the first team that called, and they offered just what I wanted, and I just said, if the Eagles do that, I’m going to stay an Eagle. It was nice.”
Slay really likes being a part of the Eagles and with so many players leaving, it was most likely a no-brainer for the Eagles to match.

Can The Eagles Defend Their NFC Title?
It is always a tall task to get back to the Super Bowl. However, the NFC is wide open. Outside of the Eagles, Cowboys, and possibly the 49ers depending on the quarterback situation, every other team has some major questions. The offense is still intact with the elite offensive line, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith. The defense is the real question. They lost some big pieces in free agency as well as their defensive coordinator. The schedule will also be more difficult as they play a first-place schedule. Getting Darius Slay back was huge for the team.
The Baltimore Ravens still have some work to do in the secondary. The Eagles still need to fill some holes on defense as well. As the draft approaches, both teams will look for young talent to help fill in roster holes.
