Daniel Jones’ 6 season run as the Giant’s starting QB is finally over. After a 2-8 start to the season Head Coach Brian Daboll made the decision earlier this week to bench the highly paid QB and move forward with Tommy Devito at the helm. This benching caused quite a stir in the locker room with many veterans on the team coming out in support of the embattled QB and leaving Daboll with a lot of questions to answer with the media. Friday morning Jones met with Daboll and Giants owner John Mara and all sides agreed that granting Jones a release was in everyone’s best interest. As with all veteran players Jones is subject to waivers, but with his 12-million-dollar price tag it seems unlikely that any team would be willing to claim him, so where will the signal caller land?

Las Vegas Raiders (2-8)
Vegas is one of the main teams expected to be in the running for Jones with no clear QB1 currently on the roster. Gardner Minshew currently guides the Raiders but he himself has already been benched this season for Aidan O’Connell before AOC injured his thumb and found himself on the IR. The main selling point the Raiders can have over other potential suitors is their ability to offer Jones a home long term, rather than joining a team to finish the season the Raiders represent Jones version of what Baker Mayfield has found in Tampa Bay.
Dallas Cowboys (3-7)

Despite reports coming out that the Cowboys have already pulled themselves out of the Daniel Jones sweepstakes, Dallas does make a lot of sense as a landing spot. With Dak Prescott out for the season with a Hamstring injury, and the team currently sitting well outside the playoff race, the Cowboys will need a big spark if Jerry wants to turn the season around and try to make a post season berth. The Cowboys offer Daniel’s best opportunity to play himself into a starting job somewhere next year by giving him CeeDee Lamb to throw to.
Tennessee Titans (2-8)
Tennessee is desperate for adequate QB play, and Jones could be the second coming of Ryan Tannehill that Titans fans have been searching for. Will Levis has been a rollercoaster at QB for the team so far and already has fans arguing over what QB in the upcoming draft class is most enticing. Brian Callahan provides an enticing option for Jones to sign with as a play caller that constantly schemes receivers open and just needs to find a player that can find the open man and deliver. Tennessee also offers Jones a potential future home if he were to play at a high level.
Carolina Panthers (3-7)
The Panthers find themselves in need of a QB once again after benching Bryce Young just to return to him as the starter weeks later after bridge QB Andy Dalton was injured in a Car Accident. Carolina has been unable to find competency at QB since Cam Newton left the organization with 9 different players making a start since Cam suffered the Foot injury that would spell the end of his time with the organization. Carolina would likely be a fallback option for Jones if a better option doesn’t present himself as the team’s current state leaves him at a disadvantage when it comes to auditioning for a starting spot next season.
Indianapolis Colts (5-6)
Shane Steichen has already proven he’s willing to make roster moves at the QB position to try and make this team win now. 2nd year QB Anthony Richardson was previously benched for Joe Flacco before returning to the starting job after Flacco failed to jumpstart the offense. Indianapolis could provide Jones with an opportunity to earn a playoff berth with the team currently right in the middle of the playoff fight. This move seems unlikely to happen, but the fit does seem to make sense based on Steichen’s willingness to make unpopular moves.
Wait and See
Jones likely best option is to play the waiting game and see if he can slot into a team that has an unfortunate late season injury. Nick Foles provided magic for the Eagles in route to a Super Bowl run and Daniel could look to provide a similar spark for a playoff bound team that finds themselves in need of a late season replacement. If the goal is to earn a starting position next season this strategy would put him in the best position to put his best foot forward.
