The head coaching position in college football has been a revolving door, but Dan Lanning wants to change that with the Oregon Ducks. Since 2008, the program has seen five different coaches but Lanning is ready to hunker down and spend a long time in Eugene, Oregon. Let’s take a closer look at what he said regarding his future and what it means for the program going forward.
Dan Lanning Wants to Spend the Remainder of His Career with the Oregon Ducks

Ahead of their big Big Ten matchup in Week 13 against the USC Trojans, coach Dan Lanning made an appearance on ESPN College GameDay. While speaking to Pat McAfee he made it known that he wants to remain in Eugene for his entire career.
“You gotta be able to appreciate what you have, and I appreciate what I have here so much. This will be my spot. This is where I’m at forever.”
He certainly will have a spot with the Oregon Ducks for as long as he wants if he continues to coach at the level he has been. This is his fourth season with the program and he has a 44-7 record, including 2-1 in bowl games. Every season, he has at least 10 wins (he is currently at nine entering Week 13), and has had the team ending in the top 15 of the final AP Poll.
As one of the premier coaches, it is clear that many programs would be better with him in their program. Earlier this year, Lanning received a new six-year contract with an average annual value of $11 million, so he has some security as well. It will be interesting to see how long Autzen Stadium will be rocking with Dan Lanning on the sidelines.
