Dan Campbell spoke to the media today in Arizona. He talked about a lot of things especially about his quarterback Jared Goff amidst many calling for the Lions to enter the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes. However, that was not the most interesting comment of the day. Campbell had a cryptic answer when asked about Georgia prospect Jalen Carter.
Dan Campbell on Jalen Carter:
"We talked to a teammate of his the other day and, man, he told us some things we didn't know. That nobody probably would've known. It was like, 'Oh, that's interesting.'"
Asked if it was good or bad:
"It's interesting."

Dan Campbell On Jalen Carter
Carter was a consensus top pick a couple of months ago. Then an arrest followed by a subpar pro day has caused teams to cool on him. However, many still think he is a top-10 pick. Campbell was asked about Carter and had this to say.
“We talked to a teammate of his the other day and, man, he told us some things we didn’t know. That nobody probably would’ve known. It was like, ‘Oh, that’s interesting.'”
He was then asked if it was good or bad and simply responded with “It’s interesting.” This is a very strange answer. It feels like if you like the guy, you would just come out and say it. This feels like a sidestep and might signal the Lions are looking elsewhere when they pick sixth in the upcoming draft.

What Should The Lions Do With No. 6 Overall?
The Lions are in a perfect position. This pick is from the Rams in the Matthew Stafford trade. It is a bonus top pick when they had a decent season last year. This allows them to add top talent to a team that already is looking to compete in the NFC. The Lions need defensive line help and Carter falling to them seems good. However, the Lions could also look at nabbing a top-edge rusher or even a future quarterback. The options are there but Campbell’s comments make it seem like they are not considering Carter.
Jalen Carter might be a candidate to fall in the draft. If the Seahawks or Lions do not take him, he might fall to the late first round. It is yet another interesting storyline to watch as we get closer to draft day.
