Headed into the Kentucky Derby in 2022, Rich Strike had 80-1 betting odds to win the race. The rest is history. As of July 18, the Detroit Lions have 55-1 odds to win the NFC. There is a long journey ahead for this young and hungry Pride, but nothing is out of reach if you ask Dan Campbell.

In an interview with NBC’s Peter King, First-Team All-Enthusiasm captain Dan Campbell expressed his belief in the heart and soul of his team. Detroit’s roster is far from perfect, but sometimes grit and determination can shape a season.
For a team with just three wins last season, the Lions may seem overly confident to some NFL fans. But for those who live in Michigan and Detroit specifically, you know exactly what it means to say One Pride.
Some writers, like NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks, are calling for a Bengals-type season for Detroit. Although Super Bowl aspirations would be phenomenal, let’s not forget we don’t have Joe Burrow on the roster. However, it’s lovely to see the Lions get some respect from the national media for the first time in, um, well, ever.
Even without a playoff appearance, the Lions could have a very successful season. With the fifth easiest schedule in the NFL, the Lions could easily string together a .500 record.
From a snap-to-snap basis, the Lions don’t fear anything. Motor City Dan Campbell (MCDC for short) has installed the Detroit blue-collar mentality into these men. Like the ’89 Bad Boys, it doesn’t matter who Detroit’s opponent is. If a team walks out of Ford Field with a win, it’s going to be a well-fought battle. As we saw numerous times last season, the Detroit players will give it everything they have until the clock hits 0:00. Don’t ever expect the Lions to ever go down without a fight.
