The woes of former Las Vegas Raiders players continues. Damon Arnette, a former cornerback for the Raiders was indicted on felony gun charges Wednesday according to sources.
Arnette’s indictment stems from an argument at a Las Vegas strip casino in January 2022. Allegedly Arnette was holding a weapon and argued with valets.
According to court records, Arnette was armed with a .45 caliber handgun. Arnette threatened a man’s life outside the Park MGM hotel. Arnette’s arraignment in court is scheduled for May 24.
Arnette has a history of getting in trouble. Arnette threatened individuals on social media during the 2021 season. Social media showed Arnette was armed with many guns. The Raiders released Arnette on November 21, 2021.
Arnette was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Arnette spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City released Arnette on January 29, 2022.
The Raider’s 2020 draft was interesting. Former General Manager Mike Mayock drafted Henry Ruggs, Damon Arnette, Bryan Edwards, John Simpson, Lynn Bowden Jr, Tanner Muse and Amik Robertson. Robertson is the only player that remains from the 2020 class.
Arnette’s situation shows that actions have consequences. NFL players can learn from Arnette and be responsible off the gridiron.
