A legend of the New England Patriots is questioning the narrative pushed by President Donald Trump’s White House about Iran’s nuclear program. Over the weekend, the United States sent B-2 Bombers to bomb three domestic nuclear facilities in Iran.

Currently, there is a three-way ceasefire between the US, Iran, and Israel. But for a couple of days after the US mission, there were missiles fired from Iran at a US base in Qatar and several exchanges of missiles between Iran and Israel.

It’s unclear what impact the US had in bombing Iran’s facilities, as national intelligence is unsure where Iran’s uranium stockpile is, and the damage done by the US might have only set back Iran a few months… If they were even trying to build a nuclear weapons program at all.

Two-time Super Bowl champion offensive lineman Damien Woody questioned the attack by the US in a social media post on X.

“So…did folks really think Iran wouldn’t retaliate?!,” Woody wrote.

One person commented that Iran’s retaliation was proof of why the country shouldn’t have nukes. Woody responded by reminding the poster that US intelligence is skeptical of Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions.

“Our own intel said they don’t so why are we bombing them,” Woody wrote.

Woody’s post is in line with the US Govt. Per Adam Johnson and Sarah Lazare of columnblog.com, Iran is not believed to have restarted the weapons program it suspended in 2003, per multiple sources.

“But Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program, according to the US government’s own intelligence,” they wrote. “The annual threat assessment published in March 2025 by the Director of National Intelligence says, “We continue to assess Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that [Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei] has not reauthorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.

“And intelligence assessments leaked to CNN and the Wall Street Journal also find that there is no nuclear weapons program. According to CNN, US intelligence consensus is “not only was Iran not actively pursuing a nuclear weapon, it was also up to three years away from being able to produce and deliver one to a target of its choosing, according to four people familiar with the assessment.

“And if one has any doubt, the New York Times reported Thursday that the Trump White House was not acting on any new intelligence, but simply providing a “new analysis of existing work,” which is to say they are completely ignoring the US intelligence consensus and coming to a conclusion they want to sell a war.”

Not everyone is buying the war that Ted Cruz-type war hawks are trying to sell. Woody is doing his best to try and combat disinformation.

If the ceasefire can hold long enough to turn into a resolution, maybe the US won’t have a war to fight in. But if the bombing over the weekend was inneffective, what was the point of poking the bear to begin with?
