After contemplating retirement and later admitting that it was “in the realm of possibilities” last offseason, Dallas Cowboys All-Pro right guard Zack Martin decided to play for the 2024 season. Unfortunately, Martin’s 11th season was cut short due to injury and only lasted ten games. Since the Cowboys do not have much cap space, with $2.47 million to work with, they will process his retirement as a post-June 1st cut, allowing his $26.46 million dead cap to be spread into the 2026 offseason. They will free up $1.255 million cap space and incur a dead cap hit of $9.4 million for 2025 and $17.060 million for 2026.
