Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs was ready to put the nagging knee injury behind him. For the first time this season, Diggs was not on a pitch count in each of the last two games and played every single defensive snap. Diggs opened the week as a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday and looked to do the same on Friday.
However, something happened to him at home on Thursday that put his Week 7 availability in jeopardy.
Dallas Cowboys All-Pro suffers freak accident at home

During Friday’s press conference, Brian Schottenheimer told the media that Trevon Diggs suffered a concussion from a freak accident at his home but did not provide further details, as reported by Patrik Walker of the team’s website. As a result, the All-Pro cornerback will not practice on Friday and has already been ruled out against the Washington Commanders. This is the first game Diggs has missed this season and the 23rd over the past three years.

Who replaces him?

The Cowboys could utilize DaRon Bland more on the outside, with Kaiir Elam lining up on the opposite side and Reddy Steward in the slot. Bland began the year as the starting slot corner, but with Trevon Diggs dealing with injuries, he has spent more time on the outside. Also, due to Bland missing time and Diggs being on a pitch count, Elam has started four games and played 69% of snaps. Meanwhile, Steward has carved out a defensive role, logging 157 snaps in the slot since Week 2.
