For the Dallas Cowboys, a logical next step during the NFL Draft is to add some firepower to help quarterback Dak Prescott.
Especially given the Cowboys’ lack of explosiveness opposite CeeDee Lamb in Prescott’s receiving corps, Dallas could turn to one of the top wide receiver prospects in the first round.

That’s the exact scenario that plays out in Pro Football Focus NFL analyst Jordan Plocher’s latest NFL Mock Draft projection, with the Cowboys selecting Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the No. 12 overall pick.
“At 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, McMillan has a vastly different body type and skill set from CeeDee Lamb,” Plocher writes for PFF. “And would provide Dak Prescott with a big-bodied threat on the outside while Lamb does his damage in the slot. McMillan is also a run-after-the-catch threat, having tallied 29 forced missed tackles in 2024.”
What Tetairoa McMillan Would Add for Dallas Cowboys

McMillan is rising up draft boards across the league, and could be the kind of weapon the Cowboys. need to ignite the passing game.
Last season, McMillan caught 84 passes for 1,319 yards with eight touchdowns while averaging an explosive 15.7 yards per reception.
“He’s a big target with adequate speed,” an AFC Scouting Director recently told me, of McMillan. “He’s going to be pressed in the NFL if he is on the line of scrimmage. Otherwise, they must move him around or put him in the slot. Has the tools and size, but his lack of top-end speed and separation skills that could limit his options right now.”
If the Cowboys are unable to add an explosive running back in the first-round, taking a pplayer like McMillan who would go a long way towards rounding out Prescott’s arsenal and bolstering a lackluster passing game could be the kind of pick that leads to the offense making big strides in 2025.
