The Dallas Cowboys kicked off training camp this week at Staybridge Suites in Oxnard, California. They held their first two practices on Wednesday and Thursday, both of which were open to the public. The team will have Oxnard Fan Night on Friday and their annual Back Together Weekend and Opening Ceremony on Saturday.
The Cowboys have not been able to finish their first few practice sessions unscathed. A key offensive starter went down with an injury a few days ago.
Dallas Cowboys’ RT suffered a lower-leg injury

Terence Steele must have suffered an apparent ankle injury on Wednesday because he did not participate in Thursday’s practice. The right tackle underwent an evaluation on his ankle on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury. Many fans were wondering whether Steele sustained a minor or significant injury, given his importance to the offense, as he is the oldest and most experienced starter on the offensive line.
Dallas Cowboys’ $82.5 million starter is day-to-day

According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, Terence Steele suffered a minor high-ankle sprain. As Slater points out, he is considered day-to-day and is expected only to miss a few days of practice. Steele avoided a major injury, especially since severe high-ankle sprains could take six to twelve weeks or longer to recover from.
Sources tells me it’s a high ankle sprain for #Cowboys T Terence Steele. I’m told it’s not considered a major injury and will only have him sitting out a few days. Good news for the lineman

Who replaces him for the time being?

Hakeem Adeniji has taken first-team reps at right tackle with Terence Steele sidelined. He is on his fourth team and enters his fifth year in the league after missing the entire 2024 season with a knee injury as a member of the Cleveland Browns. Now that Adeniji is fully healthy, he will contend for the swing tackle/reserve role on the Cowboys’ 53-man roster this summer.
