The Dallas Cowboys have been in the news quite often. With training camp underway, the media is going to have the spotlight on them. Owner Jerry Jones has been speaking to the media already during training camp and has said some crazy stuff. What he needs to worry about is getting wide receiver CeeDee Lamb a contract extension.
He has yet to show up to camp. Lamb is entering the final year of his contract and so is quarterback Dak Prescott. Star defensive player Micah Parsons will also want a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys as well. Shockingly, Dallas has yet to give any of those players new contracts.
They will have high expectations this season and the spotlight will be on them all season long. They will have a very tough Week 1 game on the road against the Cleveland Browns. Dallas lost defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to the Washington Commanders this offseason to be Washington’s next head coach. Mike Zimmer is the new defensive coordinator and has talent to work with.
Dallas Cowboys Star Cornerback Trevon Diggs Starts Training Camp On the PUP List
Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs is starting training camp on the PUP list. He tore his ACL during practice last year in preparation for the third week of the NFL season. Diggs is continuing to rehab his knee, and we will see when he gets cleared to return to the practice field again. The Cowboys hope he will be back in September.
Head coach Mike McCarthy said back on June 5:
“We’ll respect the timeline, but Trevon looks great. He goes a little later in the day with his physical therapy workout … He’s in a good spot. I just talked to him a little bit there Monday during the physicals. As far as when he gets back, let’s be honest, we’re going to be very cautious with those guys. We’re not going to put them out there too soon. Better later than too fast.”
Diggs last season had four tackles, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass deflections. He is projected to be one of the starting cornerbacks on the Dallas Cowboys this season outside of Daron Bland. They did not re-sign Stephon Gilmore in the offseason. For now, Nahshon Wright will take his place and Gareon Conley will be someone to watch for.
The Dallas Cowboys do need Trevon Diggs back this season. They did not make many moves this offseason to fix the roster. If Diggs could return to the practice field before the start of the 2024 season, that would be a great sign for this football team who currently has a bunch of distractions.
