The Dallas Cowboys are loading up at running back.
After signing former Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams early in free agency, the Cowboys are set to sign former Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Sanders, 28, will likely compete with Williams for the Cowboys’ starting running back job, or perhaps become part of a committee, especially if Dallas prioritizes taking a running back early in April’s 2025 NFL Draft.
The 5-foot-11 and 210 Sanders was originally chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles, in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, out of Penn State, where he played the first four seasons of his career before spending the past two with the Carolina Panthers.

Sanders now returns to the NFC East, where he’ll face his former team twice each season.
Through his first six seasons, Sanders has rushed for 4,345 yards with 23 rushing touchdowns, while averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
How Sanders fits into the Cowboys’ running back puzzle remains to be seen, but Dallas seems to be making a commitment to upgrade from last year’s backfield that included Rico Dowdle–who signed as a free agent with the Carolina Panthers, and Ezekiel Elliott.
