After a disappointing finish last season, the Dallas Cowboys have a chance to redeem themselves this year. However, an NFL analysis has placed the Dak Prescott-led team to around the same record for the 2024-25 campaign.
The Cowboys concluded their 2023 campaign with a 12–5 record, clinching the NFC East title for the first time since 2021. This achievement was significant, as it represented a continuation of their competitive form over recent seasons.
Despite their strong performance, the Cowboys faced a setback in the playoffs, losing to the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. The defeat was notable as it marked the first time a team with 12 or more wins failed to reach the Conference Championship Game for three consecutive seasons. This season was also pivotal as it was the first without longtime running back Ezekiel Elliott, who had been a key player since 2016.
Throughout the season, the Cowboys demonstrated both offensive and defensive prowess, earning ten Pro Bowl selections, including standout players like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. However, the team’s inability to advance in the playoffs overshadowed their regular-season success.
Dallas Cowboys Projected To Reach Wild Card Round in 2024-25 NFL Season
Led by Prescott as their starting quarterback, the Cowboys are aiming to do better than their previous campaign. In an analysis by Cynthia Frelund, though, the team is only projected to win 9.2 games and reach the Wild Card round.

How big a difference does CeeDee Lamb make? Well, during his holdout, my model had Dallas falling short of the postseason. Once he signed the four-year, $136 million extension, the Cowboys were playoff-bound!
A fun NGS about him to tell your friends: Lamb was the most productive receiver against man coverage last season, leading the NFL with 70 targets, 49 receptions and 794 yards — 132 yards more than any other receiver. He also gained a league-high 894 yards from the slot.
With a challenging schedule and the return of key players, they could secure around 11 wins. However, despite their talent, the team may struggle in the playoffs, likely facing another early exit. This can be a reality, especially with how other teams in the league have improved over the offseason.
It remains to be seen whether Dallas justifies this projection or surpasses the record they’ve been given. In any case, the franchise’s fans must keep an eye on their team to see how they’ll perform.
