During an interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Friday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doubled down on his statement that Micah Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta has no seat at the negotiating table.
“I’m not going for it,” Jones said on “Get Up” of backing off an agreement for a contract extension he believed he had in place with Parsons. “No, no. But we’ve had a very, very strong negotiation. Now, by the way, frankly, it wouldn’t have made any difference what the negotiation was.
“Guess who has to be comfortable for this to work? Micah and who else. Hello, there’s not room for a third. There’s not room for a third.”

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn’t dealing with the agent

On Thursday, Jones told Michael Irvin that Mulugheta told the Cowboys front office to shove the paperwork for the extension. He also claimed Dallas has no plans to negotiate with the agent.
Not long after Jones made the comments, Parsons scrubbed the Cowboys from his social media.
NFL insider Ryan Clark spoke to Mulugheta on Thursday. The agent claimed that no such conversation had been had with Jones.
The lack of communication with Parsons’ agent is a problem for the Cowboys, because the collective bargaining agreement requires NFL teams to negotiate with a player’s agent unless a player chooses self-representation, which Parsons has obviously opted not to do.
If the NFL plans to take no action, the NFLPA has a duty to investigate the matter, as an NFL owner is going on multiple shows admitting to defying the CBA. Jones should never have negotiated with Parsons in the first place without Mulugheta present.
