Ahead of the 2024 season, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones noted that this is a make-or-break year for many people in the organization. Following their week 2 embarrassment by the New Orleans Saints, Jones is keeping with his offseason statement.
While it is no time to panic, only two games into the season, this may be a signs of what is to come in Dallas this year.
Jerry Jones is Extremely Disappointed but No Time To Panic
The team will now return to the drawing board after getting beat down 44-19 at home. Dallas was undefeated at home last season but this season is not going to go the same way.
When speaking to reporters Jones was candid about how he felt about the game saying it was “extraordinarily disappointing.” While he noted that this was highly unexpected, he believes the team will make quick fixes from this game. He thinks the team will come back much stronger:
“We will correct this,” Jones said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “We will improve.”
He went on to say that he is waiting to see how the team develops throughout the season and that they need to keep getting better into the postseason:
“This is early. This is very, very early,” Jones said. “We certainly didn’t see this coming. Obviously we’ve got a lot of room for improvement here.”
While Dallas came out strong in their week 1 matchup, they now know exactly where the team is at.
Dallas Cowboys Have A lot of Work To Do
The Dallas defense had no answer all day long for the Saints who averaged 7.7 yards per play on offense! Carr looked incredible and kept touching the team over the top. Alvin Kamara could not be stopped from getting to the endzone as he got there four times in the game!
This highlights the work that Dallas needs to do on both sides of the ball if they want to think of themselves as a real contender.
The Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott highlighted the team’s need to improve after the game, and he believes they will:
“We’re gonna learn from it,” Prescott promised after the game. “That was a good team. Gotta give them credit. This is the NFL. … It’s about trusting the process and responding. I know we have the guys to do that. Honestly excited to get back to work and turn this page.”
The Cowboys are going to face the 0-2 Baltimore Ravens who need to get in the win column. Both teams will be coming off a tough loss which should make for an intense matchup.
We will have to wait and see which of these teams will get on track next week, and which will fall deeper.
