The Dallas Cowboys are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again.
After an up-and-down start to one of the most pressure-filled seasons for the franchise in recent history, Jerry Jones’ squad hosted the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium on Sunday and the Cowboys got absolutely dominated in front of their home crowd.
From start to finish, Detroit was in complete control, ultimately handing the Cowboys an embarrassing 47-9 loss on the same home turf they were undefeated on during the 2023 regular season.
The Lions posted a staggering 492 yards of total offense with a perfectly balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Jared Goff was almost perfect for the second-straight week, finishing the blowout victory 18-of-25 for 315 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. David Montgomery added another 80 yards on the ground with two scores, while Jahmyr Gibbs finished with 63 yards on 12 carries.
The Dallas Cowboys offense couldn’t find a rhythm — which has fans puzzled — coming off an offseason where Jones decided to give massive contract extensions to the team’s biggest stars on that side of the ball. CeeDee Lamb became the second-highest paid non-QB in the league in late August and put up a decent performance with 89 yards with seven catches.
But Dak Prescott, who the Cowboys inked on a new deal that makes him the highest paid QB in the league on the same day the 2024 season kicked off against the Cleveland Browns — had his worst game of the year so far. Prescott finished the game just 17-of-33 for 176 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns.
It got so ugly he was replaced with backup QB Cooper Rush, who went 8-of-11 for 46 yards and an INT.
Despite having glaring needs on both sides of the ball all offseason, Jones failed to make any moves to bolster the talent lost from the 2023 squad. RB Tony Pollard is thriving for the Titans, while the Dallas Cowboys brass made the decision to bring back Zeke Elliott, but haven’t used him very much at all.
Dallas entered Sunday’s game with the second-to-last rushing offense in the NFL and it showed, with Rico Dowdle leading the way with 25 yards on 5 carries.
If the Cowboys are going to somehow turn their season around and make a run in the playoffs, they are going to need to fix multiple major issues in a hurry, and at this point it doesn’t seem likely.
Dallas Cowboys Fans Erupt With “Let’s Go Brandon” Chant During Lions Game
While the Dallas offense couldn’t get into the end zone all day, the Cowboys’ only points came from kicker Brandon Aubrey, who connected on two field goals.
Following his first field goal, FOX’s mics picked up a “Let’s Go Brandon!” chant on Sunday afternoon. The chant, for those unaware, is essentially an “(expletive) Joe Biden!” for right-leaning folks.
NFL fans were quick to react.

“A Let’s go Brandon chant just broke out at the Lions Cowboys game. No chance Kamala wins,” one fan wrote.
“Anyone else hear the “Let’s go Brandon” chant at the cowboys game?? I love it,” one fan added.
“Am I the only one who thinks the announcers are letting the let’s go Brandon chant be heard,” one fan added.
It’s clear many casual NFL fans picked up on the controversial move from the Dallas Cowboys fans, whether it was meant to be political or not.
“Cowboys fans loving the Let’s Go Brandon chant,” one fan added.
“You could hear a “Let’s Go Brandon” chant right before that commercial break,” one fan added.
